@Jerry - you read it wrong. There is no depency on Yahoo, its a simple DOM manipulation to write a new Script tag into to the document after the page has been loaded.
The article illustrates the no proxy required principle by calling an example Yahoo web service which offers JSON as a return type.
This removes the need for an AJAX call which would typically bounce of some server side script which it then returns to the browser.
The principal of consuming JSON data in the browser is the same its just the technique to go away and get it is different.
