One big bonus to doing things this way is that you eliminate the supposed
'need' for doing framesets.
Modt apps that use framesets do so because the developer wants modular
code--not because the user will benefit. And although sometimes arguments can
be made about a few benefits, the fact that your favorites/bookmarks won't work
really is bad for users.
And remember that by enabling favorites to work, you also enable users to do
things like email url's to web pages instead of whatever the heck they'd do to
share the info.
However, I should stop before I turn this into an argument over framesets.
