"Moving away from development" is better when it is a result of natural progression or handling additional "stuff" while also doing development. In most senior developer's case, this may mean being technical lead on projects involving several different development platforms and managing a team (vendors), being business savvy and drifiting towards business analyst or PM type of role etc. Learning new technology just to find a more assured way of living is generally not that good of a choice. Instead try capitalize on your other experience so far and build on it.

I myself have moved more towards PM role and vendor management over the last 5-7 years. To back it up, I also have PMP certification.
