Apart from that, the Notes SQL driver has been around for ages (and still is), if they really wanted to keep it.
Domino's problem has never been the data store nor connectivity, but always IBM not being able to push and actively promote its strong points. They probably never understood their own product, so they opted to puzzle their customers as much as possible.
