I cannot imagine having programmatic session access would be difficult, but if IBM gave this kind of power to Domino nobody would bother with Websphere and IBM will not allow that to happen.
IBM has placed its bets and is forcing customers, that want a solid web development platform, to choose between IBM/J2EE/WS/DB2 and everyone else. Time will tell if the bet pays.
