I have run across this problem as well (needing to add extra fields) and before
R6, the only way was to predefine a set amount of fields and use as required
with H/W, etc.
With R6, there may be a new option. I have been meaning to try it out but just
have not had the time/oppurtunity to do so. With this in mind, here is the
theory.
Supposedly you can now round-trip a Domino database using XML. What I mean is
that you should be able to export the entire Domino database as XML. Delete
the database and then import the XML file and the entire Domino database be
recreated - 100% as it was. Using this idea, why can't we do the same for just
one element, the form. We should be able to create a form entirely in XML and
import it to the design. So if we wanted to create new fields, just update the
XML design and replace the designe element.
I would create a database where the form design is saved in documents (ie: each
field has its own document). Take those documents and generate the XML export
file. Then delete the form and import the new XML. In theory it should work.
