I recently inherited a Touch Pro (HTC Fuze) which is much more customizable than the Snap. The operating system is by no means perfect but there are plenty of apps to make the thing usable.
If you decide to stick with Windows Mobile: Keep watching forums like ppcgeeks and XDA-Developers... they are constantly pushing out ROMS and customizations for these phones.
