   There is a standard for JavaScript called ECMA script.

   This spec starts with the sentence:

   "This ECMA Standard is based on several originating technologies, the most well known being JavaScript (Netscape) and JScript (Microsoft)."

   Maybe I am naive, but I live with the firm belief that every browsers strive for ecma-script compatibility.
