On another note, now that I have integrated with so many REST services (Google search, google maps, oauth, twitter, facebook, Amazon) I'm increasingly a fan of it over SOAP and XML.
REST is efficient, simple, and elegant at every level. SOAP and XML are not. The only reason your task was simple is because both Domino and Visual Studio generated all the stuff.
Don't get me wrong, your method is the right one and the most efficient one in this context, but I just wanted to spread my preference.
