I've found the book Pure JavaScript A Code-Intensive Premium Reference to be an
excellent resource AFTER you've learned the basics of JavaScript. (Authors R.
Allen Wyke, Jason D. Gilliam, and Charlton Ting) Newbie beware though, as it's
serious (1448 pages) tome. I have the 1st edition, but the 2nd edition has been
out since August 2001, and it clocks in at 1616 pages.
