Thanks guys. I'm not really looking for a workaround though. Just want to know why.
With any solution I come up with I want it to be simple and portable. If we're writing code to make an Ajax-like View we want it to be portable. Adding the feature to another view should be a doddle and not a hassle that involves copy/paste/editing numerous agents and forms.
