Working From Home Today

Working from home? But don't you do that every day Jake? Aha, yes, but today I worked from the house, rather than the garage, because I didn't dare miss the delivery I was expecting.

IMAG0039

Like an excited child I've been checking the online tracking of the two boxes above several times a day, wathing them make their way to Nottingham, from Hong Kong, via Dubai and Cologne. Finally they're here.

What's here?  My new Lenovo T400!

I tried to leave unboxing for as long as I could. Lasted about 2 minutes and I was in there. It booted to Windows Vista although it's now at the "copying files" stage of a fresh install of Windows 7.

I'll let you know what my impressions of it all later on...

Not sad at all Chris. Well, maybe a bit. I talked about it not long back - the whole process of unboxing - http://www.codestore.net/store.nsf/unid/BLOG-20090611?OpenDocument

There's a definite pleasure in taking delivery of and unboxing IT kit.

  1. I suppose it depends on the packaging used. http://www.theregister.co.uk/2009/07/29/aboxalypse_now/page5.html

  2. where are the pictures Jake?, i check everyday for them :), also i hope you put a SSD in it, i just switched and Notes loades faster than Outlook ;)

Picture later today Marcus. Wasn't going to, but seeing as though you asked.

SSD=Solid State Drive? It was an option to pay an extra couple of hundred GBP and go *down* from 350GB HDD to 120GB SSD. I was tempted but did some reading up on SSD and I read a lot of people saying they're not worth the extra cash. Until your HDD fails of course.
