A Thank You To Codestore's Disciples

I have a bookmark, which I check once a week or so, that points to a search on LDD's release 6/7 forums for the word "codestore". It lets me keep an eye on who is saying what about this site over on the forums.

Back in the last millennium I used to visit the forums myself and post links to articles on this site which answered the user's problem. I did this both to help the user and to help spread the word. Before long this site's popularity took off -- all thanks to links on the forums, mainly.

Not having the spare time I used to (I was single and child-free back then) I no longer visit the forums. However, lots of people still do and I'm glad to see that links continue to be posted to content on this site. According to Google Analytics "www-10.lotus.com" is my third best referring site.

The Lotus forums brought in 830 visitors to this site in the last month. About 40% of them had never been here before and they spend an average of 4 minutes on the site. The "bounce rate" was about half, which hopefully means they're sticking round to find out what else is here.

At times like this when I'm struggling to find the time to keep the regular and useful content flowing it's always nice to know the site continues to be a resource in itself -- whether I post to it every day or not.

So, anyway, I just wanted to thank my disciples. You know who you are! (I'd list some names but don't want to upset anybody I might inadvertently leave off the list).

  1. Hi Jake,

    Went to a Lotus TechJam yesterday. Very informative and was shown a quick demo of XPages for 8.5. More info here for those that have not come across it yet

    I found you through a website called MartinScott.com, it has a 'Domino SuperSearch',

    {Link}

    where you type in your search criteria, and a million (ok maybe about 30), domino sites pop up with the results. Including codestore. And found a handful of helpful tips here and come back here and notes.net to search before doing the super search.

  2. Jake

    Even if you don't post regularly, every time I had a web development project I have I come back and check at one or more of the articles I have read on your site.

    Last month it was a log-in box on the front page, this month it was reviewing attachment behaviour, and so on.

    Keep up the good work

    I'd forgotten all about martinscott.com's "super" search. I'd forgotten that it launches a new window for all sites you select. Doh. Nearly brought FF to its knees!

    Why not try rollyo.com and create your own "search roll" on there. here's one I created ages ago: {Link}

    You should try it with the new Google Chrome browser. It opens all the pages in tabs and is blindingly fast.

  3. Even if you would post 3 times a year, your content is like a huge reference guide, so I see your site has having extraordinary value even without too much new content. I still refer to it often.

    A big round of applause for Jake's contribution!

    It can't be over emphasized, keep up the great work. Anyone, no matter their Lotus skill level, can learn from your innovative ideas and techniques here on your site.

    Thanks a lot Jake for everything.
