Glass Blogger Award Arrives -- Narrowly Survives Earthquake!

As if winning the Lotus User Group's "Best Lotus Blogger" award wasn't good enough I later found out there was an actual award to go with it.

It took a while to arrive (thanks to the overly-zealous UK customs) but I'm glad it did. Looks good dunt it.

Turns out It's quite hard to take a photo of a clear object. You can just make out the important word down at the bottom -- winner. Hey, did I mention I won?! Also on there is the Lotus User Group logo and the text "Best Lotus Blogger 2008". It's about 6" tall and has quite some weight to it. For now it's sat on my Mac mini but will have pride of place somewhere in my new garage. Maybe it needs a presentational cabinet.

Thanks to Scott Treggiari at WIS Publishing for getting it to me in the end. It's done some air miles on its way!

In other news - I experienced a first at 1am this morning -- an earthquake. Yes, in England.

I've always known we got them but that most simply go un-noticed. There was no escaping last night's though.

It was actually quite scary being woken up in a daze and trying to work out what the hell was happening. An earthquake was the last thing I thought of although my sleepy mind managed to think of everything else. At first I thought the dog had somehow gotten in to the room and was tapping his foot on the floor. For a while I even thought it was somehow a supernatural event. As the tremors grew I started thinking that somebody was using a digger to bash their way in to the house and rob us! Turns out it was just a good old earthquake. Exciting stuff nonetheless.

Nice looking award, glad it survived ;) , GZ once again on getting it. Aye the minor quake was interesting at 1am - had the whole street up.

I was asleep over my Mac on the sofa the earthquake didn't wake me up my wife did :-) It woke her up and she came looking for me at about 1am:

"Typical" she said, " asleep over the computer again!"

We had one in Belfast back in 81 or 82, a 4.5 if memory serves. It has become one of those "do-you-remember-what-you-were-doing-days"

over here... Sadly i was in bed at the time and all i can remember of it was .. feeling the tremble and hearing a neighbours window break and thinking.. "oh a bomb" and then opening an eye looking around and thinking "good i am still here" and then i went back to sleep.

~Sigh~ Wouldn't it have been nice to have been in the position to actually ask "did the ground move for you too dear?" and actually get a "yes" as an answer ;)
