Bonjour

Bonjour. Bienvenue à Disneyland.

Karen loves to remind me how we didn't get away for a summer holiday this year but that I'm going to on lots of "breaks" to places like this. What she doesn't realise is how much I dislike Disneyland. This morning, as I left the hotel, a six foot moon-walking Pluto waved me goodbye. Save it for the kids I thought. Inside Pluto et al I reckon there are evil sods thinking "Look at this one. He's seems grumpy. Probably wants to be left alone. I'm gonna some fun with this one".

Something else Karen was not to know is that yesterday (Sunday!) I did an 11 hour shift. Not that I knew about it either. Apparently when the conference proper starts I have to start even earlier!

It's fun though. Yesterday we had 20 virgin T42s to unbox and setup. They're now all configured in internet café style, running in kiosk mode. All we need now is some users. Apparently Sam Palmisano is about on Thursday. Maybe he'll come and play.

It's interesting to see a conference being setup and get an idea what goes on behind the scenes. There's loads going on all around me as I am writing this. More to come...

Come on Jake! don't be so misconceived with people whose tough work is just trying make people smile!. I don't neither like Disney very much as I don't like big enterprises wich make easy money from merchandising, but just think that guys and girls inside Plutos and Minies may don't have stock options. Just try to enjoy with them and you will feel better.

Being reading your last posts, I still would like to know if you finally solved the troubles with IExplorer in kiosk mode as when users try to closes it...

  1. Did they have disney bots running security? Thsoe guys are far more annoying than Pluto.

edge. No matter how hard I try and can only despise Pluto and Mickey.

After messing about with Group Policies we ended up with a much simpler way to keep IE running. Create a .bat file and add the line:

    start /wait iexplore -k "address.com"

This will launch IE and re-launch it, should it ever be closed.

Jerry. Not sure if it's Disney doing the security or not but they are very keen. Before we left last night we locked all the laptops to the desk using Kensington locks. While we were away a security guy had found a way of getting them off the desk and told us to find another way.

Stu. If only. I was going to get one but had to convince myself that I didn't need it. It's hard to be surrounded by them. It's not even like IBM would miss one would they...

  2. we need pics!!!

  3. I guess I need to qualify, "...annoying if you try to go places you shouldn't." which I have a habit of. It's nice to know they've got your back at least.

My client is deploying th T42s here... pretty nice. If they extend my contract again, I'll have to ask for one. :-)

As a good French, i would recommend you better to visit the Futuroscope ({Link} located in Poitiers) instead of this big brother company.

Did you know that Walt Disney supported hitler before WW2 ?

I visited once the restaurant in 1995 (i had to bring a friend in her hotel new-york) : they had not red wine : a crime !

We will meet next week in Saint-Gobain with Joel Patrick.
