Gmail Account Giveaway

Not wanting to be the only blog ever to never to have done this, I've got some Gmail invites to hand out. For ages I only had six and I never bothered getting rid of them. Now I've got fifty of them and it's feels like time to get rid.

Anyhow, I'm away for the day, so just leave a note while I'm out or send me an email and I'll get an invite over to you some time this weekend. Obviously the first 50 in (assuming such demand) are the first 50 served. I do like to make work for myself don't I...

Update: All gone! If you're left without one, fear not. There are a few people with spares who've left their email addresses in the comments.

  9. Hi.

There's a huge trading site for Gmail codes. It's very popular - about 1mil hits a day, they say.

    {Link}

If you feel generous, you can donate codes there too. Or pick them up.

  10. Do you still have one for me too? Thanks!

    Jake-

How did you get 50 invites?

    -Brandon

Brandon. They've recenlty upped the number people get given. Probably in order to increase user-base. Or whatever it is they're up to.

  25. Every member og 50 invites in one go.

I think Gmail is going public very soon. As do a lot of other people. So Google probably wants to try and stagger the influx of new users at least somewhat, giving everyone 50 invites.

That way, it's not like opening the floodgates. More like getting everyone who's desperatly interested onboard in chunks, then opening the floodgates to a half-full resiviour. If you get my meaning.

Please send me an invite Jake, I'd like to take it for a spin.

  28. Am I missing something? Why should I need a GMail account? You can get a mail account with 1GB disk space for free at GMX since ages, so what is it all about it? Being able to do a Google search on your mails? Maybe I am from outer space but 97% of my mails are safe for deletion after 2 days, the rest of it can be searched easily without Google. I really appreciate the generousity of you, Jake, to give them away to your fellow readers (I hope they don't sell it at GMail-Park ;-) but I really do not need one.

I know what you mean mt69clp. What is it all about? Google have done some great marketing on this one.

Personally, I don't even like GMail. I find it impossible to use and I just dont *get* it. Maybe they've "re-thought email" but I was happy with what I had already.

I have 50 invites. Anybody wants one, send me an email - you won't get anything else back other than an invite. Sorry Jake for using your site in this way but it would be a shame if they went to waste.

  30. I have a few - just drop me a line

  31. I too have 50 invites available for anyone who wants one. Just send me an email requesting an invite and I will send you one.

  32. Could I get an invite? Or could you let me know where to get one?

    Thanks

    Jake,

I've been using my Gmail steady for about 5 months now and I wouldn't dare switch. I've been using almost all of the features except for POP access and the desktop notifier. Other than those items, constructing filters to automate filing, categorising and archiving keeps things in great order. I use it as my online 'filing cabinet' of sorts. The collapsing threads work great IMHO and I do search previous material frequently. My redirection service at an ISP ceased once they resold the domain name so picking Gmail over Yahoo and Hotmail was an easy choice.

    Regards,

    Michael
