More on the Domino errors database

It's good to see a few of you have been adding to the new errors database. Only this morning I added another one. Then I took a moment to see what Google makes of it. A search for "domino error messages" has always taken you to the original document, but had it got round to indexing the individual error documents? Yes!

Googling for "Data Types Of Two Matching Results Are Incompatible" returns the right document at the top of the pile. The same is true of most of the Domino errors. Next time you find a Domino error all you have to do is paste it in to Google and press the "I'm Feeling Lucky!" button. I love it when a plan comes together like that.

Still, I don't think it's perfect and I would love more feedback from you guys. What would make it the place to come and find solutions? Without any feedback I will assume it is already and leave it be.

Is it the 21st already!? Damn, that gives me 10 days to follow this up with its second part. Maybe I'll get it done today, as our summer seems to have ended already. Not only that but I have the house to myself all day and night. Bliss. It doesn't happen very often but I love it when I know there's nothing but me, some loud music, the internet and a few beers.

Have any of you cats ever tried coding when under the influence of beer..

    Its an enlightening experience....

  1. The influence of Guinness has me turn out great apps!

Question for all as it relates to Domino errors...has anyone noticed that a computed field on a document with a formula of @Explode() in it does not get updated properly when calling the LotusScript ComputeWithForm method? Recently, in 2 instances this has happened to me. The agents are running on a Domino 6.0.3 box.

An example of the code in one of the fields is simply @Explode("One,Two,Three,Four"). When I run a formula language refresh, the field with the @Explode() in it works correctly.

    Any ideas?

The errors db is a good place to start. Silly question, though - are the errors shown in any kind of order? They're not alphabetical, and don't seem to be in date posted order.

There random order at the moment Esther. I'll change that. Probably order it on title.

  2. Never give out your address! If you ever get another night to yourself in the future, there's only about 1000 Notes developers who'd turn up with their Asda's 33 bottles under their arms!

Doug, the computewithform method is not guaranteed to recompute all your field values. It will work most of the time, but it will stop computing the fields as soon as it encounters something that it can't handle (for example @subset with a negative argument). Make your field the first field on the form, and your computewithform will calculate it.

  3. mcat, thank you! The application that my agent is creating documents is an application that I have never actually worked in.

I will just adjust the agent to set the values in this field.

  4. I don't know about beers, but coding under the influence of sleep deprivation usually has me thinking I can do more than is really possible, typing like a drunken sailor (more than usual) and cursing a lot. All in all... I'd say it's more productive to sing along badly with the loud music when under the influence of beers / sleep deprivation rather than try something (potentially career impacting) like coding.... but that's just boring old me.
