Blogging and Biking

TypePad is no longer in beta. You can now all sign up and enjoy cheap, feature-rich blogging. If you decide to then let me know as, as a beta-tester, I can give twenty of you 20% lifetime discount. I'll give the codes to the first to apply. Assuming any of you do. Most of you probably think the idea of using anything other than Domino is sacrilege.

Today's bike ride up at Derwent Reservoir was fun. Spoilt only by the fact that I bit of a lot more than I could chew and that, being the numb-nuts I am, I chose to do it on what promised to be the hottest day in British history. Within the first hour I had drank my supply of water and had to ask people by the side of the road to take pity on me. Within the next hour I had about a dozen falls and two punctures. In one of the falls I broke my sunglasses and in another I bent my brake-lever in two. Oh well, I guess this is what real mountain biking is all about. Here are some photos I took (apart from the one of me by my mum), hosted by TypePad's excellent photo management system.

Typepad - Yes please - those photos look great! Top Site.

  3. Nice ride Jake. Glad you survived it. I'll bet you tame it next time 'round.

Sign me up for Typepad. I'm using w.bloggar right now and loving the convenience of a client side interface for blogging. The photo piece is the only thing missing.

If you want photo albums in TypePad, make sure you sign up for the Plus or Pro service. Basic service dosn't offer photo albums. :(

Doesn't it seem like it's only ever the back wheel which gets punctured - just to make sure you have to mess around with the chain and durallieur and get oil all over your (inevitably) white shirt! :)

  4. Brent,

I wonder what the upload images feature is good for? Plain old inline images? hm. Not much point in it I suppose. I'd rather build my own photo template for the price, even with the generous discount.

Here's my chit back, then, Jake. Too much money for just the photo album (nice as it may be), as that's all I really was keen on.

  5. Jake, if there's any codes left, I would like to give this a go. Non-Domino solutions are not sacrilege; they are just not Domino :-) My plan is to copy you (are you flattered?) and bring up a personal blog using TypePad, and maintain my Domino blog in Domino.

    Cheers,

    Joe

  6. Hi, Jake.

I would appreciate, if you have any left, a TypePad discount code.

Thanks in advance and I hope all is well with you.

    Bill

  7. I'm trying out MovableType, but would love to switch to TypePad if I got one of those tasty discount codes!

  8. there is nothing on my site at this moment but I would love to get 20% discount code. Sincerely, BertoZ :)
