It used to be easy. I used to be a Principal CLP. Now I am an IBM Certified Advanced Application Developer - Lotus Notes and Domino 6. Hmmm. I like the clout that comes from having IBM in there but it's a bit of a mouthful. Like the LDD is still Notes.net I will be a pCLP for all intents and purposes. Until it comes to CV time that is, of course.

Yep, as you probably guessed, I just passed. You knew I would though didn't you ;o) Wasn't so sure myself. Although I've been playing with Domino 6 for a bit now it wasn't until Yesterday that I realised there was a lot I didn't know about. Mainly because I don't need to in my role as a web developer but still they are all things you have to know if you want to upgrade your qualifications. So, as promised, I will pass on what I think you need to know.

Instead of trying to go over it all in one blog I will write an article instead. That way I can go in to my thoughts and opinions on some of the new features. Boy, have I got some opinions!

The obvious thing is that you need to learn what's new in Release 6. The easy way to this, and the way I did it, is to simply read the "What's New in Domino Designer 6?" page from the help file. Read it all and pay particular attention to the 48 new @Functions. Learn and play with each of the new features. Some of which I had never heard of until this time Yesterday. For example: Embedded Editors, Extended ACLs, Tools Menu, Row Colour Formulas, Design Locking, Rich Text Lite fields. etc.

The final, and most important, step is to get your hands on some self-test exams. When it comes to these exams there's nothing as important as knowing what to expect of the questions. Some of the worded so ambiguously you want to pull your hair out...
