Food For Thought
Hurray, last day at work today. For the next two weeks I am off around the country, squeezing as many friends and family in as I can. My new iBook is coming along for the ride so, needless to say, I shall be logging in, answering mail and getting my fix of blogging whilst away. It just won't be as often as usual, which, with fourteen hangovers on the way, is probably better for us all.

Yeah Chris, either that, or Jake's being evil again. Notice the three checkboxes under "For Web Access:" are not equidistant. Perhaps the boy Howlett's been doing a bit of image editing again? The formula font's maybe a bit wide as well? Call me cynical if you wish.

Well, Jake. This was one of those little things that made me smile. Damn shame it's not in R6. There is a way, I believe, to do the same thing with DHTML and javascript(something to do with ID tag), but I don't think it's worth the hassle.

I'd love to see the custom "No Documents" message, too. The abilty to set it to "" would be nice -- my ".js" views need to begin with a close comment and end with an open comment on every line -- the one drawback to an otherwise cool technique. It's not so much that I want to hide Domino, I just dont want people to think that I'm the sort that would insert an empty comment container between each line of code. (I know people who would do that sort of thing. They are a strange lot. Brilliant, except that they think Star Trek was a documentary. Rubbish -- we all know that the future will look a lot more like Red Dwarf.)

A real dirty one is to use style-sheets and set the H2 tag equal to the background color or visibility: hidden (at least when you want to set it to "") .
It is especially useful when using pass-thru html tables because the message might sometimes be displayed outside of your custom table.
I know there are some DbColumn and Javascript solutions but I never get th e time to design real nice solutions.

I found that I make agents to output the values of views, so I can adjust the format a little bit better. So this way you can of course put your own no docs found msg in.
I agree prawnfresh, using a query open agent is a nice method to display the contents of views, can easily do alternate row colors, custom links, etc. It does have certain limitations (eg size of field you are placing contents in) but a useful method. Jake, I noticed a few posts asking you to have a forum on the site. What are your thoughts?

Try this in a hide when formula with an embedded view on a page or a form.
1. Embed the view and do a hide when that looks like this:
@If(@Elements(@DbColumn("":"NoCache";"":"";"Web_RT";1))=0;@True;@False)
2. Put the words you want instead of the No Document Found and do a hide when on it that looks like this.
@If(@Elements(@DbColumn("":"NoCache";"":"";"Web_RT";1))!=0;@True;@False)
