It is very easy to implement. The code is separate from the style and thus
very very very easy to customize the look and feel.
The problem you are having with trying to position the applet under a layer
using z-index won't work. Seems that most browsers have a problem with the
z-index on the following tags: applet, iframe, select. These tags are always
on top no matter what you try and position on top of them. The only thing you
can do is to set their visibility to hidden if you try and place something on
top of them.
