With newer VMs and application servers there are more opportunities to get some internals from the VM. http://olex.openlogic.com/wazi/2009/how-to-fix-memory-leaks-in-java/
They are not there for Domino and much less for Domino 6.5.
So unfortunatedly I see no better solution then figuring out the proper objects to recycle and keep fingers crossed.
