I can't agree with you enough. I think it's the watching them "grow up", which makes these moments special. Last month I watched my daughter (4) perform at her dance recital and it wasn't a masterpiece, but just watching her get up on stage in front of a full auditorium and do something like that was a special moment for me as a parent.
