  1. Hi Jake, 2 points

    1) your absolutley right that it could be done on other platforms. My belief is that it couldn't be done at the right price. Our applications tend to be one off or niche solutions that don't have an economy of scale to recoup development costs. Once you are used to it Xpages is RAD although not as RAD as the client just yet.

    2) would you be inundated with work ? This brings me back to a previous comment I made a few weeks ago on your blog. If you are in "receive mode" in terms of the platforms you use i.e you wait for the cutomer to decide then the volume of potential work may or may not be higher.

On the other hand if you do come to believe that Xpages is the best tool for the job and PUSH the technology choice ( or bury it and only talk about the end effect ) then ( assuming Xpages makes you competative ) you will win Xpages work.

I guess it depends on whether you are a seller of a skill or the seller of solutions.

Money etc.. aside I think that you would thrive on Xpages. Its extendability is just the kind of thing that you appear to love. If Xpages has a future and if you were seen to be good at it then I would hope that all would work out - thats what I am doing but it is a leap fo faith and it is bloody hard work !
