I have no idea what Quickr is and have never paid much attention to anything other than the core Domino product.
With the two main projects I've worked on in the last year it was down to me to both choose the technology to use and host it. In both cases I chose ASP.NET. Could I have used Domino? Possibly. Technically neither app suited Domino, but I could have hacked away and made it work. But then what about hosting, like you say? What about handing it over to them if ever I want to walk away from supporting it? I'm not sure they'd thank me if I handed over an NSF file and expected them to easily find somebody else to host and support it.
