Why is it an either/or proposition? Why not display the chart in SVG, and give
a link called "Download Excel Data" (or whatever) which goes to an agent that
uses Jake's trick to produce an excel document (see article called something
like "Making your boss happy")? That seems like the best option. If people
aren't happy just viewing it in the browser, they can go one step further. But
I bet you'll find a lot of people *will* be happy with that, but they'll also
be glad that they have the option to manipulate the data themselves.
