It was personal. I think you have to have a *really* good reason to discriminate by browser these days. Age of browser being something of an exception, of course.
IE for banking though, you're a braver man than me :)
My father in law had tens of thousands nicked from his accounts thanks to a trojan so only uses bootable live CD's to do internet banking now. I'm not that paranoid yet, but do make sure it's a machine I trust, and preferably not a windows machine.
