_getEditAppletData() problem with Sun JVM

I'm running into a problem when we switch over to the Sun JVM instead of the
Microsoft VM. The nsf is using the form validator, but that is returning fine.
The app hangs when _getEditAppletData() is called. With the MS VM, everything
is fine. It hangs totally with the SUN JVM. any ideas?
