@Jake:

1) Analytics is such a great tool. It also amazes me! I'd love to have that information saved daily to a Notes Db, in an way I can read create my own reports.

2) I heard that another possible (and bad) reason for users not upgrade to IE7 is because MS only allows it to "official/registered" copies of Windows.

@J: We use a Notes database we developed to listen SNMP traps for IT statistcs (Cpu, Memory, Hard drives, Network I/O) every Nth minute. My goal is to finish my "almost" real time Dashboard, with every kind of statistcs (sales, IT, audience, etc...).

Thanks for the heads up about Google Analytics, I've been looking to implement some metrics functionality for our Domino site without having to build it all myself. I just implemented it yesterday and already the reporting capabilities are impressive!

Google Analytics sounds great.

It doesn't do live (real-time) statistics, or does it ?

I'm looking for real-time stats for a JSP web app. If only it was on domino !

We have no plans to upgrade from version 6 of IE. If we ever decide to, its more likely we'll jump to Firefox instead.

Hopefully my career change will have occurred by the time the company wants to look at Vista - I'm getting too old for this!

I use Google Analytics Richard, which is just brilliant and never ceases to amaze me. It even email me a nice-looking PDF summary each day to summarise activity - with maps of the world and everything on it.

I think you meant "23 people" not "12 people". (12 + 6 + 4 + 1)

As for upgrading IE 6 to 7, we don't upgrade the existing machines. If the new machines have IE 7 already installed we leave it alone. We know IE 7 is available via MS software updates, but it is not considered as a "critical" patch by the IT Unit. It'll take us about 2-3 years to "get rid" of IE 6.

I use "fly-over" menus for most websites that I work on. For IE, I use a few lines of javascript to mimic the "fly-over" or "hover" effect.

Jake, what software package do you use to analyse the website statiscs?

Howdy!

I'm using this Flyout menu trick for a project I'm doing at work. "Officially", we have a standard of IE6 worldwide at the United Nations. However, we were asked to do testing of our web apps in IE7 last summer, because we are planning to upgrade soon. (NOTE: "soon" in the real world means 5-10 years at the UN!).

Many people have Firefox installed, and all the external websites are supposed to be done for Firefox, as well.

We also will be testing our Notes based applications on a Vista platform this summer.

We currently use R7 for mail servers, and R6.5 for Notes clients. We will start looking at upgrading everything to R8, although that's a big project for the number of people involved! =8O

Whenever I have web stuff to do in Notes, this is always the first place I check. Keep up the good work!

Steve in NYC.

"It hurts to be on the cutting edge."
